Simple body massage is a very time-saving and cost-free regime to maintain a healthy body. You can find all sorts of massage from head to toe in the internet, especially in Youtube. Our body responds to stimulation, especially pressure stimulation. Even the sole of our foot contains all the pressure points connecting to our body organs. Foot reflexology is the stimulation of those points on the soles of the feet. In this article we shall consider the stomach massage.
We can apply pressure on certain points of the body to stimulate the related organs, thereby rejuvenating them to function properly. There are at least three simple methods for doing this. Massaging, pressuring, and slapping. Actually the term “massaging” can mean all three. Of course we have the ultimate therapy; acupuncture. But we have to leave acupuncture to the experts.
For the ordinary person, consistent simple massaging is helpful in maintaining a healthy body. You can find the links to a number of my articles on different simple techniques on massaging, at the end of this article.
Generally, massaging is great for relaxation and release of tension. A relaxed body free of tension is the gateway to a strong immune system. When our immune system is at its peak, we will be able to maintain a healthy body at all times and in all conditions!
Most people only go for massage when they have problems with their bodies, especially pain and aches. We should not wait until this happens. This is a great mistake. Massaging is like exercise. We have to keep working on it to stay fit and healthy. That is why it is important that we find simple and yet effective massaging techniques. One of them is the stomach massage.
Stomach massage : More information
This information on the stomach massage came to me through email many years ago. I have been trying to trace the source of this method of stomach massage in the internet for quite some time, but has been unsuccessful. The only links I get are the information on the person who is supposed to have introduced this stomach massage technique. His name is Dr. Stephen T. Chang. But nowhere can I find this specific technique in the internet. So I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the origins of this stomach massage technique.
Be that as it may, I find this technique very simple and easy; and very convenient to apply. Two most important considerations : it is harmless to try; and it doesn’t cost anything - free! I am always game to try out things that can benefit my well-being, so long as it is harmless and free. I am not too concerned over its source or origin. So I have been doing this stomach massage for months now. Whether psychological or otherwise, I feel this stomach massage is beneficial. One of my friends has confirmed that she is now more shapely with a flatter stomach!
Ok, let’s have some information on this Doctor Chang. I must remind readers that I have no concrete confirmation that he is the person who first introduced this stomach massage.
Dr Chang is a well-known Western medical doctor as well as a Chinese physician. An authority of Tao philosophy, and holders of two doctorate degrees in philosophy and theology; in addition to two other law degrees. You can read more about him here:
Stomach massage : The method
This massage requires only two minutes, once in the morning upon waking up, and then at night before sleeping. Or if you prefer, do it at the most convenient time that suits you. That simple. It is explained that this massage will speed up a sluggish digestive system resulting in quick elimination of useless sludge, effectively burning off excess fat.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) the stomach is regarded as the center of energy. Massaging the stomach has the following effects:
- Stimulates the abdominal organs.
- Regulates digestion.
- Prevents constipation.
- Improves blood circulation in the abdominal area.
- Cures indigestion, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.
If you are game enough to try this stomach massage, below are the steps:
1. Lie flat on your back and bear your abdominal area.
2. Rub your hands together vigorously for about 15 seconds, or until they feel hot.
3. Place your right hand on your belly button and rub gently in circular movement enlarging the circle gradually, as shown in the diagram above right.
4. Feel the warmth building up around the abdominal area.
5. Continue for 2 minutes.
6. Keep the abdominal area warm at all times.
Stomach massage : Word of caution
Stomach massage is not for the following conditions:
- After a heavy meal
- Pregnancy
- Inflammation of the uterus, bladder, ovaries and fallopian tubes
- Hypertension
- Stones in gall bladder, kidneys or bladder
- General, femoral, inguinal and umbilical hernia
- Bleeding of the stomach, lungs or brain
- Ulcers of the intestines and stomach

A very good Hub. Relaxing, relieving stress, all help in preventing disease. A good massage is a great way to induce a peaceful, relaxing, low stress state of mind. Another great method is watching great comedies that make you laugh. I know of a guy who laughed his cancer away in just four weeks time. The doctors just couldn't believe it! But, it worked, and that's all that mattered.
