Water : The Miracle Liquid.

Water. Simply water. Drink plenty of water. Of course you got to make sure the water is clean water. So the best is boiled water.

Our body contains about 60% water. As a rule of thumb, take 6 glasses of water each day. Each individual is unique in its own way. So you drink as much as you want to; but I think 6 is an average. I am no doctor, and I won't give you detailed analysis of water, which you can Google search anytime. I am just sharing with you what I have been doing for years and which have proven to be very effective. Remember, I am 60 years old!

You may also have come across emails advising drinking of water to stay healthy. This hub is just to refresh your memory that water is indeed the "elixir" of life. You may want to do all other healthy pursuits which you should. But don't forget this humble liquid : "water".

Each morning the first thing I do is drink one glass of water. This first step in the morning is the most important part of your daily life. And after each meal, I drink another glass of water, which means if I take 3 meals a day, I would have taken 4 glasses of water. Before I go to sleep, I take another glass. This makes 5 glasses. Throughout the day I would have taken additional sips now and then. That would easily total up, at least 6 glasses of water a day.

You see, 6 glasses of water may not be enough for you. I am of small built, so my intake is sufficient. Generally, the bigger you are, the more water you need to drink. However, you should also take into considerations regarding your diet habits, amount of excercise you do, nature of your job, the climate you are in, and also your sense of thirst.  If you sweat alot, you would need more water intake.

We need not have to go into technical details as to how water can help us stay healthy. Just plain common sense. Water speeds up flushing out our body wastes. Each day we need water to replenish that is lost especially through sweating and urinating. So remember, drink water before you even feel really thirsty. Once you are feeling very thirsty, it means you are not replenishing your body liquid fast enough.

Drink water at appropriate time

The information below sounds reasonable.  Perhaps you may like to follow.

Apparently if you drink water at proper timing, it will maximize its effectiveness on the
human body:

2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs

1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion

1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure

1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

Water : A word of caution

Please be careful not to overdo things. You need plenty of water, but not too excessive. If you drink too much water, your kidneys may have to work overtime, and this is not good either. Apparently, the filtration system of the kidneys consists of a series of specialized capillary beds called glomeruli which may be damaged by excessive work overload. Another danger with excessive intake of water is that it will increase the total blood volume and this will impose additional burden on the heart and blood vessels.

The danger is that it is not likely that the person will feel any different as there will be no obvious symptoms in the short run.

So do things in moderation.

Stay healthy with water!

Yes, another advice before I end this article.  Avoid drinking cold water (especially iced water),during and after meals.  The cold water will solidify the oily food and slow down digestion. It will also react with the acid, then breaks down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food, gradually lining the intestine, turning into fats, which can cause health problems in the long term.

You may never know, health problem may strike at any time.

Where is the proof?

I know you said it was from "...the internet, from friends and contacts, and from personal experience."

But you should research before providing information to others... Everyone can just copy and paste information on the net and pass around false details.

I love reading articles with sources listed at the bottom. A scientific journal source is a way you know for sure that the fact is really a TRUE fact.
