Gandhi quotes : Introduction
I just have to write about this universal icon of non-violence. You would have read the Gandhi quotes many times; some superimposed into the pictures of this great man. So this article is nothing new, except maybe the three stories at the end of this article. It is an honor to add Gandhi quotes in my portfolio of articles.
Just to refresh, Gandhi’s full name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2 October 1869; and tragically his life was untimely terminated on 30 January 1948, although at a relatively ripe old age of 79. The person responsible for this heinous crime was Nathuram Vinayak Godse who had to pay with his own life. This culprit must be a mad man.
Gandhi was honored with various titles. The most revered term is Mahatma meaning Great Soul. The other one is “Bapu”, for Father. Father of Indian Independence. Father of the Nation. His trade mark was his attire, or lack of it! He wore the traditional Indian dhoti, and has been addressed as “the Great Soul in beggar’s garb”.
His birthday, 2 October, is commemorated as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-violence.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.

" Because there is no 4th class."
Quote #2:
I heard this in the movie "Gandhi". When someone in distraught asked what he should do after having killed a Muslim child, Gandhi said,
"Go and adopt a Muslim orphan."
Quote #3:
During Gandhi's student days, he stayed in a boarding house. The landlady told Gandhi that her young son had much respect for him. She then appealed to Gandhi to advise her son not to take too much sugar. After a period of no action, she reminded Gandhi of her request; and Gandhi said,

Thank you for the beautiful collection of Quotes of Ghandi. He was such an inspiration to all.
Gandhi's quotes are very much necessary for the Indian society and politicians. He is an example of sacrifice which a man can do for the society and his country. No one can match him, as he never claimed power in independent India, for which he fought for decades...
I used to think I knew the meaning of humble until I read this Hub..thank you for sharing..If I was more selfish I would believe it was purposely posted for me to find.
Hi Good Guy,
I am surprised that delusion is considered a root of evil, would you mind explaining that to me? Thanks!!
Good Guy,

Gandhi was and still is one of my life teachers.
Im still struggling to understand the world.
So far, Gandhi and his words are closer to my soul than philosophy and teaching of any other great person in the worlds history.
